COLLECTION AND INVENTORY
OF OCEAN TRASH
Our action against marine pollution
-
Collection of waste that we encounter at sea and on land in coastal areas that are difficult to access and therefore little monitored. Until now we have collected 4315 Liters of trash on our expeditions and hope it will be less very time!
-
Detailed categorization of the collected waste and sharing of data with specialized partners, like ReMed Zero Plastique.
-
If possible, transferring the collected waste to our circular economy partners for recycling and revalorization.
The results up to now
OBSERVATION OF BIODIVERSITY AND ECOSYSTEMS
Our action for the research and protection of marine biodiversity
We follow several biodiversity observation protocols and actively participate in monitoring the health of the ecosystems we cross.
-
Identification and counting of notable and invasive species
-
Observations of ecosystem health
-
Location of fish nurseries
Data is shared with institutes and associations with which Watch The Sea cooperates.
COLLECTION OF
WATER SAMPLES FOR ANALYSIS
Our action for water quality
Watch The Sea cooperates with partners such as Surfrider Foundation to collect information on the quality of the water in our oceans.
For this purpose, we use specialized equipment (for example, a water buoy that can be dragged behind or a filter that is attached to the wetsuit).
The analysis of the collected samples is done independently in the partners' laboratories.
TESTING OF SUSTAINABLE
OUTDOOR EQUIPMENT
Our action to support the development of sustainable products
We work with equipment manufacturers, product designers and pioneers for new solutions to support the development of sustainable and biodegradable products for outdoor activities. We test existing equipment and collaborate to optimize it.
We currently work with other designers and engineers to eco-design new Seatrekking equipment solutions.
